HOW TO START AN AMAZON AFFILIATE BLOG?
I believe that for newbies the process will be super easy and interesting.
STEP 1: PICK A NICHE
A niche is basically the topic that your blog will be about. For example, if you’re passionate about Makeup, you can start a blog in the Makeup niche.
Here are the two Best Methods for finding niches or doing Niche Research
1) Via Amazon
2) Via Market Places
1) Via Amazon
Go to Amazon
>Explore Sub-Categories
>Check the best-selling products in that category. These products will give you a good idea about what people are buying in that particular niche.
> Add those products' names/ideas in an excel sheet and repeat the same process until you get minimum of a 20 Niches.
>Now check whether niche sites are available or not related to that niche.
To check niches sites perform a search query in google by typing Best (Product Name) and then adding an A to Z letter at the end of the keyword so google will suggest you long tail keyword, which is key to finding a niche or small sites because niche sites usually target low competitive and long tail keywords.
After that analyze the Domain names of the top 100 sites and open niche sites.
Pro Tip: If the Product name is included in a domain name for Example Laptopguru(dot)com, this will be considered a niche site.
You can simply press CTRL+F and search for the product name and scan those sites that have the product name in their domain name and add those sites to your niche research excel sheet.
2) Via Market Places
Another and my favorite method is the Reverse Engineering Niche Research method.
The best thing about this method is, here you don’t have to put lots of effort into research.
Everything will be done by someone else, and you just need to follow the footprints.
As Tony Robbins Says, “Success leaves clues”.
MotionInvest and Flippa are the marketplaces where you can find successful websites and blogs for sale.
Check the sites that are listed on these platforms especially those sites with earning sources of Amazon. These sites will give you a good idea about which niches are profitable and you will get an idea about how much potential a particular place has.
STEP 3: NICHE VALIDATION
Without this step, you cannot proceed with your affiliate blog. Niche validation is an important step and will determine the success of your blog.
For niche Validation, first, perform keyword research using tools like Google Keyword Planner and, keywords everywhere Semrush, and Ahrefs.
Analyze the organic traffic for each keyword/keyphrase that you have researched and compare them.
If you did niche research through Market Places then you will get to know how much a particular site is earning which is a great way to predict how much you are going to get if you invest in that particular niche.
Also, search those keywords in the Amazon search bar and analyze which products are ranking on top.
For example, if you are researching a keyword like “Laptop Accessories”, check what kind of laptop accessories are on top and how many reviews they have. This will give you an idea about the potential of that particular niche.
Last but not least check Google Trends and analyze the search trends for that particular product/niche. This will give you an idea about whether it's a dying niche or growing or whether it is seasonal or not.
Also, ask a question to yourself “Am I going to enjoy creating content around this niche?”, “Do I have adequate knowledge and interest in this niche?” etc.
After analyzing all the above factors if you feel confident about that niche then Congratulations, you are ready to start your amazon affiliate blog.
STEP 4: KEYWORDS RESEARCH
The next step after finalizing the niche for an amazon affiliate blog is to perform keyword research.
To perform this task, you need some paid tools (Ahrefs, Seemrush)
OR you can do it by using free tools like (keywordchef & Google keywords planner).
I personally use and recommend keywordschef for gathering all keywords related to a specific niche as it offers you free 5000 credits.
After signing up for your account for keywordchef, do keyword research by typing your main or Seed Keyword in the search bar.
Let's Say your niche is Chair, in that case, type Chair and select the nature of the keywords. If you want to gather "how to" type keywords, then select "How to".
Once you will hit the search button, it will show you some words like office, gaming, etc. Make sure to select those words that are not related to your niche to let's say it shows the word "draw" and I guess the keyword will be How to Draw a Chair which is useless for you and that kind of keyword will consume credits so keep words wisely.
Ok, now you have got a list of hundreds of keywords, but the thing is not every keyword you have found is going to be relevant or profitable. You need to filter them out and group the relevant ones together.
To do this, you need to ask yourself 4 questions for every keyword:
1. Is it relevant to my niche?
2. Can I rank for it?
3. Is it profitable?
4. Is there enough search volume?
If the answer to all 4 questions is “Yes”, then you can move on to the next step.
In the next step check their search volume by using keyowrdeverywhere Extension (Paid) which costs you 10$ which is a very reasonable amount because it gives you 100000 credits which is more than enough.
Note: You can also simply extract ranking keywords from your competitor's website by using ahrefs and again group them by using the abovementioned steps.
STEP 5: FILTERING & KEYWORDS GROUPING
Not every keyword you find is going to be relevant or profitable.
STEP 6: BUY DOMAIN & HOSTING
There are three types of Domain names:
1. Exact Match Domain (EMD): It’s a domain name that exactly matches your main keyword. Example: bestlaptops(com)
2. Partial Match Domain (PMD): It’s a domain name that contains your main keyword but also has other words. Example: reviewsbestlaptops(com)
3. Brandable Domain: It’s a domain name that is not related to your main keyword but is easy to remember. Example: Techgeeko(com)
Now the question is which one should you choose?
Let's start with EMD. In the past, EMDs were a great way to get rankings quickly.
But then google released an update called “Exact match domain” (EMD) update and it hit the rankings of many sites that were using EMDs.
So, to be on the safe side, I would recommend you stay away from EMDs.
I am not emphasizing but I do prefer a partial match domain for the niche sites. (Karim Affiliate Wala) is an example of a Partial match Domain as it includes Affiliates.
But it also depends on your goal and preference. If you want to build a Brand site, then go with a brandable domain name because it won't be limited to a specific niche.
However, if your goal is to make a small site that targets only one niche, then a partial match domain will be better.
According to my experience, PMD and EMD perform well on other search engines like Bing, and Yahoo.
When it comes to hosting, I personally recommend hostinger or Namecheap Hosting for newbies but if you are not a beginner and have confidence that you will receive millions of traffic in the first year and have the budget, then go for siteground or another expensive one.
STEP 7: CREATE A SITE
Creating a site is so easy, you can watch videos on YouTube. But here I will suggest some best themes and plugins that will help you to make bog successful.
Themes: Schema, Generatepress, and my favorite Kadence. And the best thing about these themes is they are free and well-reputed themes.
Plugins: RankMatch, Table of content Plus, Pros and Cons.
STEP 8: PUBLISHING CONTENT
Content is king, most of the newbies struggle in this phase because they don’t know how to write quality and Well SEO optimized articles.
If you don’t know about content writing then don’t do it by yourself but if you are good at writing then go ahead, it will save you money.
You can also hire a content writer instead but remember one thing, 50% of your website’s success depends on content so never compromise on quality. The content writers will provide you SEO optimized article but you should check whether it is helpful for users or not because most of the writers I worked with don't care about it.
It is not only the writer's fault because most bloggers tell them to write SEO-optimized articles with a specific keyword but do not give any further guidance.
To make this process easier, I created a Template, and I gave it to my writers, it includes all the things that I wanted to see in my article.
STEP 9: OFF-PAGE SEO (LINK BUILDING)
After publishing content on your site, you have to create backlinks. At the start do Social Bookmarking(SB), Forum Posting, Blog Commenting, and Quora posting because they are easy and free.
You can also get backlinks by outreaching other sites and offering them guest blogs.
This step is very dry because you will have to face many rejections in this phase but never give up and keep outreaching out on a daily basis.
And if you don’t want to struggle and you have investment, you can purchase links from guest-posting service providers or directly reach the site owners and negotiate with them.
Here I will recommend you not to pay for those sites with High DA but don't receive any traffic because nowadays most newbies get trapped by HIgh DA, but they don’t know DA can be manipulated and can be increased up to 50-60 within weeks.
In short, always check Site Age, Relevancy, and Traffic along with DA and DR before purchasing any kind of link.
I hope you will get an idea about How to Start an amazon affiliate Blog.
